Quarry sands
Silikaat’s sand is light, washed and has no bigger stones. The sand has been extracted with a pump from under bluish water. The water takes along clay particles when it drains and so excessive dust also is removed, resulting in a washed and sieved clean sand. Natural sands are extracted from the Männiku quarry pursuant to the extraction plan. When mining the soil, the testin plan is a basis for operatively checking the compliance of the sands to requirements.
According to the results of radiometric analysis, the sand can be used for constructing residential buildings.
Fields of application
CONSTRUCTION SAND
The selective combination of dry and hydro extraction used at AS Silikaat’s Männiku quarry enables to mine sands of different coarseness and quality. The sand is extracted with a floating soil pump and guided into the hydro heap. The technological process removes gravel and stones, and washes out very fine dust and clay particles. Sands cannot contain pieces of clay or other foreign objects. According to the results of radiometric analysis, the sand can be used for constructing residential buildings. The sand can be loaded quickly thanks to an excavator with a clamshell capacity of 2.5 m³. The qualitiative indicators of sand in one heap are stabile. More precice laboratory analyses and relevant information is available on site.
AGGREGATE SAND
In the course of the hydroextraction of natural sands in the Männiku quarry, the gravel is extracted from the bottom of the lake with a floating soil pump and guided through a cone sieve into the heap. This method results in a clean sand without fine dust and clay particles. Natural sands are extracted from the Männiku quarry pursuant to the extraction plan. When mining the soil, the testin plan is a basis for operatively checking the compliance of the sands to requirements.
